Aylesbury is the county town of Buckinghamshire and there is evidence of dwellings dating back to early 4th Century BC.
The Great train robbery took place on a railway bridge at Ledburn, about six miles from the town. The resulting trial took place at Aylesbury Crown Court giving the town huge international publicity at the time.
Getting to Aylesbury
By road, the A418 connects to the M40 and the A41 connects to the M25. London is an hour’s drive away.
By train, Amersham enjoys a good connection to London Marylebone with a fast service of around 30 minutes. The Metropolitan line terminates in Chesham, which is around 20 minutes driving away.
