Alloa is a small town in Clackmannanshire on the north bank of the famous Firth of Forth and to the east of Stirling. Historically an important port, Alloa had a long history with the brewing industry with at one time nine major breweries residing in the town.
Getting to Alloa
By rail, hourly services run to Glasgow via Stirling. With a change at Stirling, services run to Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Inverness. By car, Glasgow is roughly 45 minutes away and Edinburgh about 1 hour.
When to go?
Scotfest, held in September, is an event showcasing Scottish food and drink, design and music from all over Scotland. With traditional art, crafts and food tastings there is something for everyone.
The Stirling Highland Games is held in August, just a short distance from Alloa, the highland games are a truly spectacular event.

Alloa Golf Club offers the chance to play golf in this 100-year-old course in stunning surroundings. They also have a good restaurant serving traditional fare.
The Firpark Ski Centre has a 120m dry ski slope. They provide all necessary equipment for hire.
The leisure bowl offers a range of activities, with a pool, fully stocked gym, indoor bowling, and squash courts.
