Warrington Activities and Things to Do
Warrington is in the north of England. It’s close to Liverpool and Manchester, so there’s plenty of opportunity to visit these famous cities if you want to.
The town of Warrington dates back to the Roman times and it is known for its long industrial history, however, the town has been largely commercialised now.
There are regular markets and it’s good for shopping.
Getting to Warrington
Warrington can be accessed by rail, plane, car and bus. For motorway travel, follow the M6, M56 or M62. If travelling via the M6 you’ll need junction 20, 21 or 22. If using the M56, leave the motorway at junction 10, and if travelling via the M62, use Junctions 8, 9 or 11.
The nearest airports are Liverpool and Manchester. You’ll then need to complete the rest of journey by car or bus.
Warrington Central Station is the best option for train travel as there are regular journeys from major train stations around the UK.
What’s on and where to go
There’s plenty for the tourist to see and do in Warrington. For those that like exploring the great outdoors, try the Trans Pennine Trail or visit some of the other traditional tourist attractions such as Warrington Museum and Art Gallery, The Amazing Maize Maze or Sankey Valley Park.
Warrington is an excellent area for people that like getting outdoors as there are several parks to visit. As well as the many parks, there are two major theme parks to choose from; try the Gulliver’s World Theme Park for a fun afternoon.
Walton Gardens, Stretton Watermill, the Bluebell Cottage Gardens and Lymm Dam Nature Reserve are also popular local attractions.
Warrington has an active festival programme. The Lymm Dickensian Festival is held in December. The Warrington Festival is held in July; Scouting for Girls recently headlined the show, and The Warrington Arts Festival is in September.
North West Face is based north of Warrington town centre. The centre has top roping, lead climbing and bouldering.
Speed Karting Warrington has a speed karting track and they offer lessons; they cater for stag and hen and corporate parties
Firepower Paintball in Warrington is a woodland venue that hosts paintball activities. Paintballing starts from just £10.00.
Warrington has many night time venues; The Stretton Fox gets lots of good reviews.
