Getting to Salcombe

The closest airports include Plymouth City airport, Exeter International Airport and Newquay Cornwall airport.  If you're traveling from London, Salcombe can be quite a hike, but totally worth the trip if you are looking to have some time with sea activities.

Salcombe Activities and Things to Do

It cannot be stressed enough how great Salcombe can be for maritime activities -- so what exactly can you do there?  You can learn to sail, you can go kayaking, canoeing or just plain swimming, you can fish, learn to powerboat, sail in a yacht or even hire a dinghy!  Surfing is also very popular if you are interested in catching some waves while in the area.  There is a beautiful South West Coastal Path for walking and birdwatching that is incredibly popular.  There are a few national parks in the area as well.  If you are looking to just relax, just take  a look at the picturesque Salcombe and imagine how you cannot relax there – it is impossible!

If you like to eat, and who doesn't, expect to find plenty of seafood restaurants – you will not be disappointed during crab season!  The area is also very dog friendly and you can even bring your pup to some of the restaurants – just in case you need your buddy with you on your trip!

When Should I go to Salcombe?

Salcombe experiences much of the same climate as the rest of coastal England, but can be even a little warmer due to being on the south and by just so much sea.  Expect wind and some heavy rain at certain points of the year, but always expect a fairly mild climate, even in Winter.  If you're looking for the water activities, certainly go in the late Spring, Summer and early Fall.

Nightlife in Salcombe

Traveling around the Devon area, you will be sure to find night life and plenty to do in the area.  For example, you can have a traditional Devon scrumpy, or cider, that is made using Devon area apples.  The area also has plenty of microbreweries and pubs, as well as having a very transitional gin that is made in the area.  Expect vineyard tours as part of your trip as well.
