While there is nothing major on in Gretna Green, Carlisle that is only 8 miles away does have more than a few things on during the summer months.
Gretna Greens Famous Blacksmith Shop. I think if you visit Gretna Green that you are actually legally required to visit the Gretna Greens Famous Blacksmith Shop. This was the place where young couples would elope to be married over the anvil! This is a fun little place with a ton of history and a place you really have to go and see if you visit Gretna Green. Gretna Golf Club is a privately owned 9 hole golf course and driving range. So you can get married in the morning have your first argument at lunch time and then be hitting birdies in the afternoon!
The Devils Porridge Exhibition. This place is amazing! Located 5 miles down the road in Eastriggs. This is a historic place that we all owe a great deal of thanks to. This was the place during the Great War where because of a sever lack of ammunition over 30,000 men and women from all over the world came to work in this famous factory where a smokeless explosive called Cordite was produced. This is a very interesting and fun family day out. Great for you history buffs and its family orientated enough that kids can have fun too.
Bitts Park is located in Carlisle which is only 8 miles away from Gretna Green. This is the idea family day out. Crazy golf and a putting green, many kids play areas, sand pits and many other things to keep the kids happy. In the warmer months there is even a water park here as well!
Gretna Green has what you would expect from a small place like this when it comes to its night life, but that does not mean there is no fun to be had here.
Prize Cinema and Bingo Club is a place where you can go and catch a movie or play a game of bingo. If its the latest blockbusters you are after there is a large Vue Cinema located in Carlisle which is just a short drive away. You can also grab a bite to eat here making it a perfect night out.
There are a few pubs scattered around Gretna with The Queens Head located actually in Gretna Green being a popular place for a wee drink. Just do not drink to much and end up getting hitched to one of the locals.
