As far as the boroughs of London go, Tower Hamlets is actually pretty easy to find once you get into London. As a popular part of the East End and just North of the River Thames. Even without a sat nav I am pretty confident even with the vast array of crazy drivers that you will have to deal with, that you will find the borough pretty easily. Worst case scenario just head for the Tower Of London which is clearly signposted around the city.
What’s On & When To Go?
Hmm, like with most of the London boroughs, Tower Hamlets does have attractions and things going on all throughout the year. The area does have a pretty arty background so there are more than a few art exhibitions that pop up during the year. Also Tower Hamlets is home to some fun family type festivals during the summer months. In all this is the kind of area where a few days before you go. Its best to get online and see if there is anything special on during your stay.
Let’s have a wee look at some of the things you can get up to during visit to Tower Hamlets.
Sight Seeing, perhaps more than any other borough in the city of London, Tower Hamlets is a sightseeing enthusiasts (is that even a thing?) dream. For example you can check out the amazing Canary Wharf ( http://canarywharf.com/ )which is the place where all the big deals go down in the city. What these deals are I have no clue, but I do know that the architecture of these buildings is amazing. Also you can check out such amazing sits as the Tower Of London and the Tower Bridge. I know to some people sightseeing is boring as hell. But if you like to take pictures and enjoy culture then a walk around this borough is well worth doing.
Victoria Park, not only the best park in Tower Hamlets, but arguably one of the best in the entire city! While this is a very nice park to go for a walk or have some fun with the family. Victoria Park is also a pretty cool place for you history buffs to go. You see this is actually the oldest public park in the city of London.
Brick Lane Market, this is a good old fashioned London market that is one of the most famous in the city. It has that classic old timey market feel to it no matter if you are looking for some food, items for the house or knock off DVD’s this market has you covered. Ok I was joking about the knock off DVD’s, but the Brick Lane Market is a very important part of the culture of the borough of Tower Hamlets and it’s well worth having a look to see what you can find.
If you are after a drink in the evening then, Tower Hamlets has something to pretty much please everyone. You see you have your traditional English pubs, pubs for younger people and even some wine bars. No matter what your poison is there will be a place here for you to drink it.
If you want a more cultured evening then there are more than a few places that offer live entertainment be it music, theatre or even the latest movie. Then there are plenty of places on a nightly basis for you to do this.
