Burford is a small town located in west Oxfordshire, England, about 18 miles west of the town of Oxford. It lies on the RiverWindrush, in the Cotswald hills. Burford is sometimes referred to as the “Gateway to the Cotswalds.” Its rural location and peaceful scenery make Burford ideal for a relaxing escape from urban life. While Burford does not have a railway station located within the town itself, there are two railway stations located nearby, both on the Worcester/Hereford to London Paddington line.Charlbury Station is about 7 miles from Burford proper, whileShipton for Burford is about 5 miles away. Shipton for Burfordhas limited service, but most services stop at Charlbury.
There are three bus services that run to and from Burford: Stagecoach 233, 113 RH Transport (which runs on Thursdays only) and 53 Swanbrook. Two private taxi services operate in the town, although neither of them off late night service.
