Chipping Norton is a small, historic town located in Oxfordshire, and has the distinction of being situated on what was once a Norman castle; as the most elevated town in the county, this unique and beautiful town is nestled on the very scenic western slope of a fantastic hillside. Named for the old English word for market ‘ceapen’, the site boasts one of the oldest markets in Britain, having been established in the 13th century.

Getting to Chipping Norton

Located just along the M40, Chipping Norton is easy to get to by car, taking about an hour and 14 minutes from London; by train the travel time is slightly longer at 2 hours at approximately 2 hours and 28 minutes and while there is no rail station immediately within the town, passengers are dropped at nearby Kingham Railway Station, approximately 4 ½ miles away.

Bus travel is also readily accessible and from London takes approximately 2 ½ half hours.
