Jedburgh in the Scottish Borders

Jedburgh is located on the south eastern corner of the Scottish Borders. There is tons of history in this mid-sized city with lots of it available to tourists. Major landmarks of the city include Mary Queen of Scots House, Jedburgh Abbey, and the Jedburgh Castle Jail.

Getting there –

Jedburgh is located just 10 miles from the English border, and is easily accessed from Edinburgh via A68. Significantly, Jedburgh is a control town for traffic throughout A68.

Biggest sports activities –

The most popular activities in the city are hiking, hunting, and fishing. However, there aren’t any significant outdoor activities available for tourists in the city. If you’re looking to have a little bit more adventure in your vacation then we suggest you head 45 miles to Edinburgh, Scotland’s most popular nightlife city.

Top Sights –

The biggest draw of the city of Jedburgh is the historical buildings, houses, and museums of which there are many. The most popular historic sites include the Ferniehirst Castle, the Hutton stone sculpture, and the ever popular Waterloo Monument. Interestingly, Jedburgh is also home to the largest contemporary hardwood furniture art gallery. Who knew you could make a museum out of wood furniture? Apparently the city of Jedburgh did.

Annual festivals –

Although Jedburgh isn’t particularly known for its music, it does offer tourists a rock music festival every August. There is also an annual walking Festival ( )that takes place from August to September that encourages the locals to get out and walk over 13 miles of various trails in the area.

3 top bars, clubs and restaurants –

Jedburgh virtually has no nightclubs but it does offer a couple of pubs and places to grab a bite to eat. Check them out below.

  • Carters Rest. (Pub/restaurant)
  • Ancrum Cross Keys. (Great food and an excellent drink selection) ( )
