Located in South Yorkshire, Sheffield is one of the largest districts in the UK and as a result it’s a pretty popular tourists destination. Have a little gander down below to see if this city is the kind of place you would like to go.
How To Get To Sheffield
You will have no trouble finding Sheffield at all. From the North and South the A1 and M1 are pretty much all you need to follow in order to get there. As a matter of fact when coming to the city from either the East or West of the country I would advise getting on the A1 as soon as you can and just head straight there. You can of course if you are one of these “the journey is the destination” type people take a much more scenic and picturesque route if you want.
What’s On & When To Go
Sheffield has a vast amount of events on all year round. These range from music festivals, sporting events and other things like markets and events going on at Christmas time. It’s more than fair to say that chances are pretty darn high that no matter when you visit there will be something going on. The summer holidays in particular seem to have something going on nearly every day!
Here we have just a small taste of what the city of Sheffield has to offer you!
Sheffield Cable Waterski ( http://www.sheffieldcablewaterski.com/ ), even those of you have never even considered going on a water ski will have an absolute blast here. On a summers day this is one of the best attractions that the city has to offer. The provide all the gear that you need and in between hitting the waves you can also enjoy some delicious BBQ. This is a perfect place for either a family or a group of blokes away for a wild weekend.
Tropical Butterfly House ( http://www.butterflyhouse.co.uk/ ), Wildlife and Falconry Centre, man is the name of this place long enough? But do not let that put you off. This is actually an amazing place to go if animals are your type of thing. Do not let the name fool you there is far more than butterflies and birds here. Monkeys, jungle cats and even snakes are all here. As well as the animals there are numerous attractions such as a play area and a tractor ride and of course a place to eat as well. This is a great day out for the whole family and one of the more under rated places in Sheffield.
Kelham Island Museum ( http://www.simt.co.uk/ ), this is the perfect place to go if old steam engines, motor bikes and cars are your type of thing. This is a very well-run place and the size of it takes many people by surprise as its huge. There is a vast amount to see and do here and you can easily spend half the day walking around looking at and interacting with some of the exhibits.
As a huge city when it comes to food, Sheffield is just full to the brim with fast food for the kids, nice restaurants when you want a good family meal and special places for a romantic dinner as well. No matter what you are after, Sheffield has your stomach covered.
Pubs and clubs are aplenty in the city of Sheffield, but there are many other attractions to also check out.
02 Academy, has live music on at various times through the year. This is a great venue that is a perfect size for a more intimate show.
Crucible Theatre, more happens here than snooker being played at tea time on BBC2. They also have many different live productions on through the year as well so it’s worth looking to see what is on during your stay.
