Bellshill, North Lanarkshire
The town of Bellshill is situated 10 miles south east of Glasgow City centre and 2 miles from the town of Motherwell in North Lanarkshire. Since 1996 it has been incorporated into the Greater Glasgow metropolitan area. Bellshill has a strong footballing history, being the birthplace of Sir Matt Busby, Billy McNeill, Brian McClair, Malky Mackay and Ally McCoist to name a few.
Getting to Bellshill
Being so close to Glasgow, Bellshill has amazing transport links. With regular train and bus links to the city centre, onward journeys are available for the entirety of the UK. Glasgow Airport is a major international and domestic airport with excellent links worldwide.
Belshill sits on the A725 that connects to the M74 or the A8.
When to go?
Being somewhat of a satellite town to Glasgow, specific events in Bellshill are few and far between. It would perhaps be best to look towards Glasgow for specific events. The good news is that Glasgow is Scotland’s most vibrant city and there is never a shortage of events.

The Sir Matt Busby Sports Complex is a fantastic venue; recently upgraded and refurbished the site comprises a pool, fully equipped gym, badminton and basketball courts and a floodlit synthetic full size football pitch.
The Hilton Strathclyde Spa offers pampering and relaxation in refined settings.
Again, Glasgow is going to be your best option for nights out. With some of the best pubs, music venues and restaurants in Scotland, Glasgow is an excellent option for a night out. Bellshill is not completely dead though.
Omorphia Taverna is an incredibly popular Greek restaurant with a warm, friendly atmosphere.
The Alhambra Café has won awards for their speciality fish and chips. A firm favourite with locals.
