Sunderland is situated in the north east of England between the large cities of Leeds and Edinburgh. It is easily accessible from both major cities via train and you can also access the city via the A1 and A19.
Sunderland is a vibrant city full of life with lots of things to see and get involved with. Sunderland’s Mowbray Park is a great place to visit being one of the oldest parks in northwest. Take a walk round and discover the winter gardens and beautiful lake or find a nice pot to even sit down and relax. It also borders the cities museum so why not take a visit and discover some history.
If you want to be entertained, then why not take a visit to the Sunderland Empire. It has had many famous performances under its roof from the likes of Laurel and Hardy and Billy Connolly to Ballet and even Broadway shows. Since its early days in the 1900’s it has been refurbished with new technologies, an upgraded stage and adjustments in height. It is now the only one in the region that can hold west end sized productions. Sunderland is a great place by the sea with its Roker and Seaburn beaches to play on or even take the dog for a walk, as well as a host the Marine centre and a number of water sport activities to get your teeth into.
If you like festivals and shows then Sunderland has plenty throughout the year. More things flying the city plays host to the free international festival of kites, music and dance where you can find kite enthusiasts from around the world showing off their creations.
As the city has a big student population, nightlight is not too shabby however many prefer to travel to the nearby city o Newcastle. It has some great bars including “As you like It” which is very quirky, with its modern design, great bar and food list as well as a warm atmosphere you can not go wrong.
You also have the well known Revolution bar which is sleek in design and has a large range of spirits, beers on tap and a cocktails list to get the party started. It also puts up a great menu of food from fish and chips, to burgers and even pulled pork so you quite happily control that hunger.
