Kenilworth Activities and Things to Do
Kenilworth is a town in Warwickshire. Landmarks include the Kenilworth Clock, which is in the town centre, Kenilworth Castle, and Kenilworth Abbey.
It is a town with a strong medieval history, which is still celebrated today with several events being held at the Castle.
Kenilworth also hosts cricket in the summer and horse racing throughout the year, so it’s a popular city for sports fans.
Getting to Kenilworth
To travel to Kenilworth by car use the M6, M40, M1 or M6.
For air travel, you’ll need to use Birmingham International Airport and then get a taxi or train into Kenilworth.
For rail travel, you need Royal Leamington Spa or Coventry Rail Station and then get a car or taxi into Kenilworth.
What’s on and where to go
Kenilworth castle is one of the places that must be seen and the castle hosts a variety of events throughout the year such as medieval tournaments. Christmas and New Year are also good times to visit the castle as there is a lot going on. Other places of interest include The Clock Tower, The Abbey Fields, the Kenilworth War Memorial and Stoneleigh Abbey.
The wider area of Warwickshire also has numerous attractions including the Allesley Park Walled garden, and cathedrals and manor houses to visit.
Kenilworth Festival is hosted in September. Events at the festival include Jazz Evenings, Food and Craft, which includes street entertainers and music, and there is also a music stage.
The Horse Fair is held in July as is the Warwick Folk festival.
The Warwick Words Festival is hosted in October.
The Outdoor Activity Centre in Warwickshire cater for corporate and team building events. There is a choice of zorbing, paintballing, quad biking and clay pigeon shooting.
The Open Road in Warwick offer weekend driving experiences and a choice of five cars to travel in.
The Merlin Entertainment Group hosts several events at Warwick Castle. Their team building events including Knight School, which allows people to take part in archery, sword skills and bill drill; visitors can also choose from more traditional team building activities. The castle crusade is aimed at problem solving and finding your way around the castle.
You’ll find plenty of pubs in Kenilworth. The Famous Virgins and Castle and the Claredon Arms get good reviews.
