Chichester Activities & Things To Do
Chichester - famous for being the only city in West Sussex - is undoubtedly the place to be if you’re having a birthday party or a stag/hen do in the area. Shaped by the Romans, Anglo-Saxons and the Normans, the city is now a great place for a night out.
Situated just between Portsmouth and Worthing, on the south coast of England, Chichester is an ideal destination if travelling from London and southern England, but it is quite a journey if coming from further north. From London, one can get a train directly to Chichester, which is probably the easiest way of travelling from London. From the south west, there is also a train that runs from Exeter to Chichester, which would also be an easy journey.
The city of Chichester is home to a variety of sports teams such as Chichester City FC, Chichester Falcons Softball Club and the oldest bowls club in Sussex: Chichester Bowls Club. Its seaside location makes Chichester an ideal spot for a weekend on the beach, with both Brighton and Bognor Regis very nearby. A day trip from Chichester to either of these places would also be a good idea, or even Portsmouth, which could be fun for those into naval history. The Chichester RAJF – a four day festival of music and drink - is the perfect event for those into live music and real ale, previously featuring acts including Status Quo, Katie Melua, Blondie and Human League.
If you’re looking for a great night out, venturing outside of Chichester itself is never a bad idea, the local club of Thursdays being a popular choice, with more clubs to choose from in the neighbouring towns of Bognor Regis and Brighton.
