Worthing is a large seaside town in West Sussex. There are five miles of palm-tree lined promenade leading to the stunning art deco pier for beautiful sea views. Brooklands Park has a boating lake, miniature railway and a go-karting track. Worthing has several museums where you can learn about the history of the area. Worthing is only seven miles away from four of Britain’s 14 confirmed Neolithic flint mines. Situated near the South Downs National Park there is much nature to explore on one of the many delightful walks and trails.
The Pavillion Theatre is situated on the promenade at the entrance to Worthing pier and was built in 1926. It is one of the South Coast’s premier proscenium arch theatres. It also hosts dinner dances and conferences.
By road, from the west or the east use the A27 or A259 and from the north use either the M25 and A24 or the M25, M23, A23 and A27. By rail there is a choice of several train stations but Worthing is best for Worthing Town centre and the pier. There are frequent rail services running from London Victoria (via Gatwick airport) with a journey time of approximately 1 hour, 15 minutes. Gatwick airport is 28 miles from Worthing with good rail and road connections and the local airport is at Shoreham (Brighton City).
The Worthing Food & Drink Festival will take place this year at Pavillion Theatre and along the sea front. The varied programme of entertainment will include Cookery Demonstrations, Cook off’s and competitions as well as lovely stalls offering a wide variety of gastronomic experiences. Special Guest Rosemary Shrager will be appearing at this year’s festival.
