Why Aviemore Is A Great Place For Your Hen Weekend!
A hen weekend should be an occasion where a group of friends come together and have an absolute blast. Sure most people think a hen do is just about getting hammered and hitting on the local talent. But if you want more than that, if you want your hen do to be really special and have a ton of fun activities that you will all remember for the rest of your lives then you need to come to Aviemore.
A hen weekend in Aviemore is the perfect way for you to get back to nature. The animals and the sights, scenery and everything in between is just amazing. If you are animal lovers then you will want to check out places such as The Cairngorm Reindeer Centre and the Speyside Wildlife Centre which are great places to see some of Scotland’s most amazing animals.
Where You Can Eat & Shop In Aviemore
Aviemore has plenty of places to eat some nice traditional Scottish food. The Cairngorm Hotel offers a great variety of traditional Scottish food. If you want to eat at a place that has a great menu, but is also really fun then I suggest a nice lunch at The Papa Rock Restaurant, you spicy food lovers are also covered here in Aviemore as The Royal Tandoori offers a fine dining experience and the best Indian menu that you will find in the highlands.
Shopping in Aviemore is clearly not as huge as say Edinburgh, but there is a high street where you can do a wee bit of shopping. There are also many different outdoors type shops where if you want you can but some more suitable clothes for your Aviemore outdoors adventure!
What You Can Do In The Evening In Aviemore
You do not plan a hen weekend in Aviemore because of its nightlife! But do not worry there are still a more than a few places for you to have some fun at to relax after a cray day in the Scottish highlands.
The Vault Nightclub
Nightclubs are not exactly a huge thing in Aviemore as a matter of fact, The Vault here is the only nightclub in the whole of Aviemore! Now that may sound alarming, but thankfully this is a damn fine club that offers a great place to party and try your luck with some of the hunky highland men! If you are not too tired and worn out after a long day enjoying the outdoors then I highly recommend a night here!
While there is no strip club in Aviemore, you ladies can still make the bride to be either very embarrassed or very excited by hiring a male stripper to come and surprise her in a bar or in the hotel room. While the stripper will be very hunky and sexy. This is also really funny watching the bride squirm with embarrassment or get really into it.
Live Music At The Old Bridge Inn
I have a real soft sport for this place. The Old Bridge Inn is just a good old fashioned classic Highlands pub. Here you can get a nice meal if you want and there is of course a fully stocked bar with all kinds of good booze. But they also have live music playing here throughout the year. So if you want to have a real highland night out and unwind after a tough day in the Aviemore wilderness then a night at the Old Bridge Inn is just perfect. The staff here are all really nice and will take very good care of a hen group.
During The Day In Aviemore
Now this is what I am talking about. There are things you can do here that you simply cannot do anywhere else. The amount of outdoors activities that Aviemore has to offer is just crazy! And I have for you just a small selection of what Aviemore has to offer.
This is a really fun outdoors activity that will have you laughing your butts off and getting very wet! The idea of this day of raft building is that you will be split into two teams and from there you will be given a ton of supplies and then you will be tasked with building a raft. This raft needs to be able to hold you all and get you down the river to win the race! There will be instructors to lend some advice, but the way your raft is built is up to you. Most of the time these things sink, but that is all part of the fun.
Treezone High Ropes Course
What I have for you here is a way to test your nerves and see if you have the bottle to tackle one of the toughest assault courses in the land. This High Ropes Course has two different course one that is more for people who have never done this before and one for those of you who fancy yourself as a bit of a Wonder Woman. You will need to climb high up in the trees (with a safety harness of course) and there you will need to navigate different obstacles such as balance beams, jumps and ladders to name a few. You will need to cheer each other on so that you call make it through.
Highlands Quad Trek
Please do not think of this as just some kind of mindless race. This quad bike trek is not about the vehicles you are riding, do not get me wrong these quads are really cool. But the main attraction here is the trek itself. You will get to see some amazing sights and get a feel of what the highlands really are. The quads are very easy to get the hang of and even if you have never been on one before within minutes you will have it figured out. As well as seeing some amazing sights, you may even get to see some wildlife as well.
Aviemore can be a really tough place with all the cool outdoors activities that are on offer for you. So with that being said I have for you here a nice day of pampering with a spa day. You may opt for a massage, pedicure or facial. Or you may just want to have a glass of bubbly and kick back in the hot tub and unwind after a hard, but fun day in the highlands.
The Best Way To Get To Aviemore
When you tell someone that you are going on a hen weekend in the highlands, “how the hell are you going to get there?” is what you will more often than not be asked. Well Aviemore is not going to require you to get there by dog and sled. You can get here on the train really easily and directly from both Edinburgh and Glasgow. And even if you wanted to drive, Aviemore is actually really well connected to the rest of Scotland.
